Petrol bomb hurled at APF SP in Janakpur

Sep 10, 2015- An unidentified group hurled a petrol bomb targeting the vehicle of Armed Police Force (APF) SP Rabindra Thakur at Bhnuchok in Janakpur on Tuesday. However, SP Thakur escaped unhurt as his vehicle’s windows were shut.

“The bomb fell outside the vehicle. But the assailants fled the scene,” said SP Thakur. He said he was on petrol of the area during the general strike called by Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM).
The SLMM cadres took to the streets of Janakpur from early morning on the 26th day of their general strike against the proposed seven-state federal set-up. Normal life in Janakpur was crippled today due to the prolonged strike.
Meanwhile, women affiliated to SLMM took out a broom rally in the town.
A meeting of the joint youth struggle committee decided to boycott the security personnel based in the district. The committee has appealed to the entrepreneurs to cut off supplies of essential commodities such as food stuff and fuel.
Also today, a meeting of Loktantrik Madhesi Samaj has decided to launch civil disobedience and non-cooperation against the security personnel.
The local administration continued the prohibitory order imposed in four major thoroughfares in the Janakpur.
According to Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli, the areas that house major government offices were declared as prohibited zone after the protesters torched the district based Nepali Congress office on Tuesday.
