  1. Add 1 tablespoon dried oatmeal to your baby’s bath. It’s comforting and helps protect the skin.
  2. Try adding 1/2 cup white vinegar to the clean water when you wash the baby’s diapers. The vinegar helps counteract the ammonia found in urine, gets rid of any soap buildup, and gets clear of diaper smells.
  3. If baby’s bottom is very raw, try giving a sitz bath for 10 minutes, 3 times per day. Add 2 tablespoons baking soda to the container of warm water.
  4. Petroleum jelly sets up a defensive coat on the skin so the rash can heal. No more pain.
  5. Change diaper very regularly, every couple of hours if you can.
  6. To stay away from diaper rashes, use diaper cream at every diaper change. This creates a barrier so that moistness from the diaper will not reach the skin.
  7. Let your baby go exclusive of a diaper for as long as possible. Smaller babies can just sleep naked on a blanket. Older babies can be allowed to play in a fitted or prefold diaper with no cover.
