The Constituent Assembly (CA) meet has been postponed for until 2 pm on Tuesday after endorsing 99 articles of the revised draft constitution.
The meeting had endorsed 57 articles on Monday, including the seven-province model of federal structure.
Today’s meeting rejected the amendment proposal to replace the provision of president with monarchy registered by Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N). RPP-N Chairman Thapa had registered an amendment motion on the Article 61 of the constitution.
Thapa’s proposal was supported only by 25 CA members of RPP-N. According to the CA regulations, it requires the support of 61 CA members to put a proposal for voting.
Also today, the CA members also voted down the amendment proposal seeking directly elected executive president registered jointly by Satya Narayan Bhagat and Surendra Prasad Jayaswal.
At the Legislature-Parliament meeting, Law Minister Narahari Acharya tabled the revised Bill on National Reconstruction Authority on Tuesday. The House session was deferred for 7 pm today evening after the Bill was tabled.
The three major parties—Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist—had agreed to present a new Bill on National Reconstruction Authority.
The ordinance on Reconstruction Authority, under which authority and its chief executive officer was appointed, had failed to get validity as a replacement Bill could not be passed from Parliament.
The ongoing voting process at the Constitution Assembly has endorsed up to 157 articles of the revised draft constitution on Tuesday.The draft constitution has a total of 302 articles.
