Tourism Campaign in Phuket with the slogan of “Nepal is safe: Visit, Enjoy and Help Nepal”

The Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok organized a tourism promotion programme with the slogan of “Nepal is Safe: Visit, Enjoy and Help Nepal” in Phuket, Thailand on 19 June 2015. Heads of Phuket based Government offices, travel entrepreneurs and journalists were invited to the programme. Ms. Pranee Sakulpipatana, Hon. Consul of Nepal in Phuket welcomed the guests. Vice Governor of Phuket Province, Dr. Phanlop Sinhaseni said that Nepal and Thailand are enjoying excellent relations since historical times, and added that the Thai people are ready to support Nepal. Public Relations Representative of Nepal Tourism Board, Mr. Phanphong Daeng Limbuprasertkul requested Thai people to visit Nepal.
While delivering his remarks, H.E. Mr. Khaga Nath Adhikari, Ambassador of Nepal in Thailand, expressed sincere thanks to the people of Phuket for their overwhelming and spontaneous support for the victims of earthquake in Nepal. Mentioning that only 15 % of tourist destinations were affected by the earthquakes, he invited and encouraged Thai people to visit Nepal, and requested tour operators to send more tourists to Nepal. He also requested media-persons to inform the people about this reality and encourage them to visit Nepal.

Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Dornath Aryal made Powerpoint presentation on Nepal’s tourism. He highlighted the post-earthquake scenario of tourism, major tourist destinations, facilities to be provided to the visitors in the present context, visa processes, etc. The Programme, which was conducted by Mr. Ramesh Kumar Charmakar, Second Secretary of the Embassy, was very interactive. Some media persons and travel entrepreneurs also spoke encouraging people to visit Nepal.
On the occasion, Mr. Panatchakorn Jaiyen, on Behalf of Phuket Tourist Association, announced a donation of 320,000 Thai Baht for the victims of Earthquake. Representative of Accor Hotel also handed over 170,000 Thai Baht to the Ambassador for the same purpose.

In the morning of 19 June, H. E. the Ambassador met with Mr. Nisit Jansomwong, Governor of Phuket, and extended sincere thanks for his exemplary contribution for the victims of earthquake. The Governor had played active and leading role in raising funds by organizing a programme at his own office, which had collected more than four million Thai Baht.

The Embassy of Nepal in Thailand has initiated tourism campaign with the slogan of “Nepal is safe: Visit, Enjoy and Help Nepal” in different parts of Thailand and other accredited countries, including Singapore and Lao PDR. The Embassy had organized a similar programme in Bangkok on 16 June, and is scheduled to organize similar programs in Vientiane, Loa PDR, on 27 June, and in Singapore on 02 July. The programmes are being organized in close cooperation with Honorary Consulate of Nepal and Nepali organizations.
