There are many place around kathmandu to see great mountain view and natural beauty. Nagarkot is one of them. It is located 32 km east of kathmandu and is one of the most scenic sport for mountain view view watcher and natural lover in bhaktapur district. It is rich in its natural beauty, spectacular view of sunrise and sunset. It has a very clean environment with its natural resources and is covered with forests. It is one of the popular place for sunrise and sunset view. Travelers will be very lucky to catch more then glimpse through the clouds of some snow capped mountain in June to September. Nagarkot is very cold in autumn and winter so if staying over night then bring warm cloth. One night stay at nagarkot is enough but few visitor stay longer. although its possible to make some pleasant strolls in the surrounding country. There are number of walks to and from nagarkot and kathmandu. Walk down to sundarijal, sankhu, changu narayan,chisopani and banepa. nagarkot is on a ridge on the eastern rim of the valley and the extends all the way from dhaulagiri in west, Everest view and kanchenjanga in east.

Nagarkots's accommodation is spread out along the dirt track that heads north from the bus stop. Most of the hotel and guest house are at the top of the hill.15 minutes walk from bus stop and many hotel's room offer Himalayan views from bed. very difficulty to get tourist direct bus from kathmandu so need to catch local bus from kathmandu to bhaktapur then change next bus to nagarkot. Because of inconvenience of tourist, now a days one tourist bus run daily from kathmanduat 1:30 pm from lekhnath marg, near to hotel malla and return next day 10 am from the galaxy view tower at nagarkot. Walking to and from nagarkot is an interesting and alternative walking possible which are below

Nagarkot to sankhu Travel:-

From nagarkot a dirt road goes to sankhu through katike village then take a left edge of down for more interesting walk take minor road that turn off sharply to the right down Nagarkot to changu narayan temple:- walking down to changu narayan is more interesting then to walk bhaktapur from nagarkot. its very easy to see the long spur of kathmandu valley. The changu narayan beautiful temple is on the top of this bump on the ridge line. the walking trail from nagarkot parallels the road to bhaktapur along a ridge, take the climbs up hill through a pine forest for about 20 minutes to reach until top of the ridge and then follow the ridge line then down to changu narayan. The shining roof of the chang unarayan appears above the village of changeu itself, from where sone paved street leads to the temple.

Nagarkot to sundarijal:-

from nagarkot it takes 2 days to reach sundarijal following the valley rim. From sundarijal can walk to gokarna, bodhnath. then kathmandu and also possible to continues to shivapuri the buddhanilkanth. The trail follows through the village of kattike then turns right to jorsim pauwa then down through baag dhara to chowki bhanjyang. from chowki bhanjyang one hour walk to bhotichour then walk return to chowki bhanjyang then goes to chautara then goes to mulkharka then sundarijal.

Nagarkot to banepa:-

The town of banepa is 29km far from kathmandu valley and its main town on the way to dhulikhel on the arniko highway. From nagarkot start the walk near the look out tower at the southern part of the ridge and follow a steep descent to the southeast. The trail pass through nala with interesting temple then reach to banepa and then by bus back to kathmandu

Dhulikhel:-

Dhulikhel is another interesting place. It is just 32km far from kathmandu. it is popular as a Himalaya view point. Dhulikhel is also good center for short day trekking. Many visitors goes there to stretch their legs before setting for longer treks. Better view can be found from hill by kali temple, 30 minuets walk along the namobuddha
