Buddha Jayanti |
One of the most important full moons in Nepal recorded to be the brightest, closest and largest of the year was observed on 6th May 2012 on ‘Buddha Jayanti’. Also known as Buddha Purnima, it is the day that marks the birth of Lord Buddha and is celebrated in his remembrance. Three important events of Buddhas life; his birth, enlightenment and attainment of Nirvana before his death are commemorated.
Buddha means "enlightened one" - someone who is completely free from all faults and mental obstructions.
