Onion farming has been initiated as a campaign in Dang district

The District Agricultural Office said that the campaign was launched to make the district self-reliant as the district was importing some 25 per cent onion to meet its demand.

Acting Chief of the Office Sitaram Chaudhary said that onion farming was started in 75 hectares of land as the traditional way of onion farming was insufficient in the district.

The Office said that both seasonal and non-seasonal onion farming would be done under the maize farming campaign. Chaudhary said 50 per cent of the amount would be given to the farmers to purchase pesticides and medicines, pump sets and pipes.

He added that the farmers would be given training for onion farming and excursion would be arranged for farmers in other districts where the onion farming was conducted in a campaign.

Hekuli, Narayanpur, Urahari, Manpur, Saundiyar, Ganga Paraspur, Gadhawa, Rampur, Bijauri and Satabariya have been selected for onion farming.
